Who is Postman App?

As a pioneer of innovation in Uganda. POSTMAN has for the past 10 years been at the fore front of building by iteration a world class postal supply chain. This has been driven by the latest trends in retail which are the result of a combination of an evolving technology landscape and the shifting preferences of consumers as demographics start to skew younger populations by embracing online trade.

The facilitator of this transition is the POSTMAN who is the principal functionality in the supply chain by physically carrying goods upstream as well as downstream.

Our efforts therefore have been two pronged;

  • Building the spatial referencing digital infrastructure within which the POSTMAN operates (The National Postcode and Addressing System).
  • By developing a curriculum program and training that professionalize the POSTMAN.

(The Min of Education and Sports -Directorate of Industrial training POSTMAN curriculum)

Leveraging therefore on our technology partnerships and our ingenuity, we have been able to build innovative solutions to propel this phenomenon bearing in mind the global depleting natural resources, the need for green infrastructure, a logistics industry forced into just-in-time deliveries, growing global demand, regulatory policy governed by performance results, and a host of other items.

The Postman App is a free mobile application on Google Play and IOS that allows local individuals, businesses, and institutions to generate a national postcode and address code, the combination of which can be used as a permanent location address. The application allows its users to dispatch and receive goods, through select formal and informal couriers, to the last-mile using the uniquely generated addresses. The National Postcode is a 5-digit numerical code, developed by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, that represents the: zone, district, county, sub-county, and parish, of the user/of a specific address. The address code is a distinct alphanumeric 4-character code that identifies a specific address in a 3 meter by 3 meters hexagonal radius. This sequence together with a governance framework in the form of the Uganda National Postcode and Address Code policy document developed with government collaboration has been gazetted as the National Postcode and Address Code. Currently, much of Sub-Saharan Africa and Uganda, in particular, do not have a national /regional spatial referencing mechanism also known as an Address. Take off some time and download the postman client app today and get your permanent National postal address.
